Dig Deep sponsored our collaborative pilot program. The Forgotten People, a grass roots nonprofit, and Water Resources Action Project, a New Mexico based nonprofit, invited Global Access to collaborate on this project in a remote area of the United States where thousands of Diné (Navajo) and Hopi households haul water from distant wells.

We felt anxious waiting in the rain at the Poland/Ukraine border for our partners to come across. Semi-trucks were lined up for ten miles on both sides of the border waiting several days to cross. The only way into the Ukraine was to leave our vehicle in an empty field turned parking lot and walk across the border into Ukranian territory.

Global Access is proud to partner with Lift Up Uganda (LUU) to provide safe drinking water to remote communities in Northern Uganda. Our team arrived in Kampala late in the evening to get a few hours of rest before driving north to the city of Gulu. As we arrived in Gulu, we spotted the smiling faces of our partners walking down the street. After a brief greeting we headed to our hotel to start preparing for a week of safe water workshops.

Water For Life Report

Our most recent Water For Life Grant from the Rotary Club is a focused study evaluating solutions with remote communities of the Peruvian Amazon (including the indigenous Maijuna tribes). Our recent results from our local partners have demonstrated:

  • 97% of 135 filters to be perfectly or sufficiently functioning after 10 months of use.

  • 767 people are benefiting from these filters. 2015 liters of water are filtered daily, or 660,280 liters annually.

  • 100% of filter users have informed us that drinking this filtered water has entirely removed all incidences of stomach pains and diarrhea.

The strong results from the Water for Life grant were shared with the Rotary club of Iquitos, Peru in their December 2nd meeting. Brian Landever shared data and pictures, proud to report that filter users experienced a 100% reduction in stomach pains and diarrhea.

Rwanda January 2020

Roger met with the Principal and several officials from the school where 250 children attend. They have been using a single water filter sytem for 10 months for the entire school. They stated all 250 children have been drinking the water from one filter; this requires around 40 liters each day.
